To be considered for this opportunity you must:

• Have attended high school for at least 2 years

• Be credit deficient

• Be at least 16 years old

• Have parental consent

• Have a mechanical aptitude and interest

• Be physically capable to perform manufacturing jobs


The enrollment process begins in the spring of each year.

I. Student Identification
(Target date range: April)
 

a. Students are identified by high school personnel

b. Schools host Second Chance Partners Informational Night

c. Interested students take and complete SCP application

d. Applications are collected at schools then forwarded to SCP office

II. Student Interviews
(Target date range: April – May)
 

a. Second Chance Partners (SCP) reviews applications

b. High School/SCP set interview schedule at the high school

c. SCP reviews academic, disciplinary and attendance records

d. SCP interview team meets with each student candidate for interview

e. SCP interview team makes initial decision

III. Tour of Business
(Target date range: May)
 

a. Students and parents are invited to tour partner business in the evening

b. Brief Q&A session in classroom after tour of work environment

c. Home visits with student & parent(s) are scheduled after tour

d. Tour attendance will influence SCP interview team decisions (or influence acceptance into program)

IV. Home Visit
(Target date range: May-June)
 

a. SCP interview team confirms date and time

b. SCP interview team conducts home visit

c. SCP Parent/Student contract is signed

d. Mandatory drug screen is discussed

V. Final selection
(Target date range: June)
 

a. Students notified last week of school

b. Drug screen scheduled for mid to late summer

c. Negative drug screen is final qualification for acceptance
