The program allows me to go to class for a shorter time and actually allows me to see where my schoolwork translates into real life. In regular school I would sit in a class and not be able to see where anything would be used.

In the program you learn a lot of things. I have had to learn to use my people skills a lot more.  Having to work and go to school in this environment has changed me.

After a year in the Second Chance program I can now say that I plan on going to school after I graduate. In regular school I would have never thought of this.

This program is a great opportunity for us young men to succeed in getting our high school diplomas. It really gives us the chance to prove to people that we can do it. The traditional high school classroom wasn’t a good fit for me. This program has many positive benefits like getting paid and learning job skills.  My normal day at work is nothing like a regular day at Mukwonago High School. I am to work by 6:55 A.M and my day consists of 6 hours working, and 2 hours in the classroom. My day ends at 3:30 P.M. 

I’ve learned many social skills including the importance of being professional and respectful in the work environment. 

I have been working with people twice my age with a lot more experience than I have. Since I have started I have learned how important it is to get things right the first time. I have learned things like inventory on computers, how a factory is run and to listen to those above me. I have gone through many different jobs in the year that I have been working. My first job was just hanging parts onto a paint line and taking them off when they were finished. Now I am at a different facility doing welding and metal fabrication according to a blueprint. Quality is a huge factor in my job now. It is very easy to make a part wrong and it takes a long time to fix it. I have a lot of people that have “taken me under their wing” so that I can succeed in what I am doing.
